MUSUBI × COCHAE – Fuku Furoshiki 48 cm – Mt. Fuji Yellow

A playful Japanese cotton furoshiki featuring Mount Fuji, designed by Japanese design unit COCHAE for MUSUBI.

The graphic composition uses the folds and knots of the furoshiki to transform the illustration, revealing different views of Mount Fuji, one of Japan’s most recognisable symbols. The bold yellow, blue and white design gives this traditional motif a distinctly contemporary and playful character.

The design also features a crane and a turtle, two traditional Japanese symbols of longevity and good fortune. In Japanese culture, the crane is said to live for a thousand years and the turtle for ten thousand – a classic pairing used to express wishes for a long and fortunate life.

COCHAE is a Japanese design unit known for its creative approach to traditional culture, particularly origami, folk motifs and everyday objects. Their designs often invite folding and interaction, making them especially well suited to the traditional art of furoshiki wrapping.

How to use

Traditionally used in Japan to wrap and carry objects, a furoshiki can be folded and tied in many different ways. This compact 48 cm size is particularly suitable for bento boxes, books, small gifts and everyday items.

Try folding and tying the cloth in different directions to discover how the Mount Fuji illustration changes with the shape of the wrapped object. When not in use, it folds flat and can be reused again and again.
