Yamada sen-i was established in 1937 as a manufacture of Furoshiki, since then they have been focusing on promoting Furoshiki an icon of Japanese culture.
The name of their Furoshiki brand “MUSUBI” comes from “born(生す/musu)” and “beauty(美/bi)” in Japanese. Additionally, “MUSUBI” means “a knot” and “to tie” MUSUBI produce and sell hundreds of different Furoshiki using various dying and weaving techniques such as double-sided dying.
Furoshiki are traditional Japanese wrapping cloths traditionally used to wrap and/or to transport goods. Consideration is placed on the aesthetics and they are often used as bags or as an informal way of wrapping gifts.
