MUSUBI × COCHAE – Fuku Furoshiki 48 cm – Kabuki Black
A playful Japanese cotton furoshiki inspired by Kabuki theatre, designed by Japanese design unit COCHAE for MUSUBI.
The bold black, red and white composition features Sukeroku and Benkei, two instantly recognisable figures from traditional Japanese theatre. COCHAE cleverly uses the square format of the furoshiki so that different Kabuki faces appear depending on how the cloth is folded and tied.
COCHAE is a Japanese design unit known for bringing a playful, interactive approach to traditional culture, including origami, folk motifs and everyday objects. Here, wrapping becomes part of the illustration itself.
How to use
Traditionally used in Japan to wrap and carry objects, a furoshiki can be folded and tied in many different ways. The compact 48 cm size is particularly useful for wrapping bento boxes, books, small gifts and everyday objects.
Try tying it in different directions to reveal the different Kabuki characters incorporated into the design. When not in use, it folds flat for easy storage and can be reused again and again.
