The clever composition reveals different Daruma faces depending on how the cloth is folded and tied, turning traditional Japanese wrapping into part of the design itself. The Daruma is one of Japan’s best-known good-luck symbols, associated with perseverance and resilience. Its rounded shape is linked to the Japanese saying “Fall seven times, stand up eight” – a reminder to keep going after setbacks.

COCHAE is a Japanese design unit known for its playful approach to traditional culture, particularly origami, folk motifs and everyday objects. Their designs often invite the user to fold, transform and interact with them – an idea that works particularly well with the traditional furoshiki.
