MUSUBI × COCHAE – Animal Furoshiki 48 cm – Cat Pink/Blue

A playful Japanese cotton furoshiki featuring four different cats, designed by Japanese design unit COCHAE for MUSUBI.

The colourful composition features Shiro (white cat), Buchi (spotted cat), Hachiware (bicolour cat) and Mike (calico cat), together with a yellow ball of yarn. Each corner has been cleverly designed so that a different cat can appear depending on how the cloth is folded and tied.

The fun goes beyond the printed illustration: by tying individual corners, you can create details that suggest cat ears, a tail or even a collar, turning the traditional art of furoshiki wrapping into part of the design itself.

COCHAE is a Japanese design unit known for its playful approach to traditional culture, particularly origami, folk motifs and everyday objects. Their interactive designs are particularly well suited to furoshiki, where folding and tying can completely change the appearance of an illustration.

How to use

Traditionally used in Japan to wrap and carry objects, a furoshiki can be folded and tied in many different ways. This compact 48 cm size is particularly suitable for bento boxes, books, small gifts and everyday items.

Experiment with different folds and knots to make one of the four cats appear on your wrapped object. You can also knot the corners to create playful ears, tails and other feline details.

When not in use, the cotton cloth folds flat and can be reused again and again.
