COCHAE – Nippon Origami Book

Discover traditional Japanese motifs through the playful graphic world of COCHAE.

This origami book contains 24 illustrated designs inspired by Japanese folk toys, characters, animals and seasonal traditions. Unlike conventional plain origami paper, the sheets are printed on both sides, allowing the illustrations and patterns to become part of the finished object as you fold.

Among the designs you will find daruma, hyottoko and okame masks, Kintaro, tanuki, goldfish, sparrows, shishimai, traditional toys and other familiar motifs from Japanese culture.

About COCHAE

COCHAE is a Japanese design duo founded by Yousuke Jikuhara and Miki Takeda. Working around the idea ofdesign through play, they are particularly known for giving traditional origami a fresh graphic approach. Their colourful illustrations, humour and clever use of folding turn familiar elements of Japanese culture into playful paper objects.

The finished origami can be displayed around the home, given as small gifts or simply enjoyed as a creative paper project. A charming introduction to Japanese origami and folk culture for both children and adults.
