    The Uni-ball ZENTO Standard is a retractable water-based pen developed to provide an exceptionally smooth and effortless writing experience. Its understated design and soft colours make it a practical everyday pen for work, study, planning and journaling.

    What sets the ZENTO apart is its newly developed water-based ink. It contains a POA surfactant that acts as a cushioning component between the pen tip and the paper, reducing friction as you write. The result is a soft, fluid sensation that requires little pressure, while the improved formula also limits feathering and dries more quickly than conventional water-based ink.

    The Standard model has a long rubber grip covering the areas where the fingers and hand naturally rest. This provides a comfortable and stable hold, particularly when taking extended notes. Its simple retractable mechanism and strong wire clip make it easy to carry in a pocket, notebook or planner.

    How to use

    Use the 0.5 mm point for everyday writing, meeting notes, study, correspondence, journaling or keeping a planner. The smooth black ink is especially pleasant for longer writing sessions and produces a clear, consistent line.

    Why we love it

    We like the ZENTO because its smoothness comes from a genuinely different ink technology rather than simply a wider pen tip. It glides easily across the page while still feeling controlled, making everyday handwriting noticeably more comfortable. The calm colours and restrained design are an added bonus.

    Choose from three body colours : coastal (a calm blue inspired by the coast), canary (a soft, fresh yellow) and mist (a pale and understated grey-blue)

    All three versions write with black ink.
