MUSUBI × COCHAE – Fuku Furoshiki 48 cm – Okame & Hyottoko Blue

A playful Japanese cotton furoshiki featuring Okame and Hyottoko, two traditional comic characters from Japanese folk culture, designed by COCHAE for MUSUBI.

The composition is made to interact with the folds of the cloth, so different faces appear depending on how the furoshiki is tied. Okame, also known as Otafuku, is traditionally associated with good fortune and a cheerful, welcoming expression, while Hyottoko is a humorous male character often shown with a puckered mouth.

COCHAE is a Japanese design unit known for its playful approach to traditional culture, especially origami, folk motifs and everyday objects. Their work often turns folding and wrapping into part of the design itself.

How to use

Traditionally used in Japan to wrap and carry objects, a furoshiki can be folded and tied in many different ways. This compact 48 cm size works particularly well for bento boxes, books, small gifts and everyday items.

Try different folds and knots to reveal either Okame or Hyottoko within the design. When not in use, it folds flat and can be reused again and again.
