I've been using the High Meadows x Nomado Store handmade leather inserts in two of my Traveler's Notebooks for the past 3 months, they've been from Brussels to Seoul via Tokyo, Paris, London, Amsterdam, Okayama and Osaka.
Jacob from High Meadows makes these inserts entirely by hand in small quantities from the highest quality locally-sourced materials. Customer feedback on the inserts has been unanimously positive.
Since the moment I inserted them into the leather covers of my TNs, they have been doing brilliantly, initially as card holders, but using them increasingly trip after trip, has made my entire TN set up evolve from a Traveler's Notebook to more of a Traveler's portfolio.
As natural un-dyed leather is wont to do, the initially light beige leather has been darkening progressively to a lovely light amber hue. A disadvantage of this beautiful "nude" leather is that it it will mark relatively easily. With this in mind, I decided to subject my regular sized insert to a "pampering session", applying leather balm to nourish and protect the leather. In this case, I used some leftover Sandqvist Leather Balm, a product which we no longer stock. We will be importing a new range of naturally formulated leather balms very soon.
The insert before treatment:
Step 1: rub a light coat of balm into the leather in wide, then narrower movements.
Step 2: let the balm penetrate the leather and dry for 10 minutes.
Step 3: buff the treated surfaces with a soft cloth.
Step 4: enjoy your renewed High Meadows x Nomado Store insert!
The balm will darken the leather slightly and make it feel smoother and more supple.
We recommend treating the insert 4 times per year on average.
