Introducing Daruma Factory - from Brest to Sapporo

2021 is an important year for us, with luck we will start to see the end of the Corona pandemic tunnel but we will also be celebrating our 5th Anniversary!  

We teamed up with Daruma Factory while looking for products for our 5th Anniversary Collection and were immediately seduced by the freshness of their designs and the high level of their craftsmanship. Their deep connections to Japan and France are similar to our own and guarantee a perfect fit between our two brands.

Daruma Factory is a French and Japanese brand created by Marie (French/Japanese) and Gwendal (French, from celtic Brittany), two designers who are passionate about Japan, handcraft, the power of fabric and the magic that comes into designing useful objects, under the needle of the sewing machine. 

Poetic and colourful, between two cultures that fit so well together, Daruma's objects hope to give rhythm and optimise daily life for everybody, at home or while traveling.

They design and craft their objects in Lille in the north of France, selecting sturdy fabrics, yet finding the most responsible ones for the environment.

Beyond their functionality, some objects hide little stories, secrets that you may discover, like a bridge connecting one culture to another. This kind of "magic" is one of the things we look for when hunting for new brands.

Charles had a clear idea of the designs he wanted to produce when he contacted the Daruma team : pen kimonos and pen rolls with a Japanese look and feel.  After a fairly intense exchange of emails (we're only based 90 minutes from Lille, but the frontier is closed due to Covid restrictions) Gwendal and Marie translated Charles' basic designs into a collection of exquisitely finished products that reflect both our brands' values strongly.

The products are available in 4 patterns: Sea Spray on red, navy blue cotton/Red Fans, red cotton/Red Fans, Tortoiseshell (we love this one!).
