Cover: Silkscreen printed traditional Japanese paper cover printed using the “Katazome” technique (a very laborious process).
Katazome is a Japanese method of dyeing fabrics using a resist paste applied through a stencil, typically a rice flour mixture applied with a brush or a tool such as a palette knife. Unlike yūzen, stencils are used repeatedly to make a repeating pattern. Pigment is added by hand-painting, immersion dyeing, or both.(Wikipedia)
Paper: Carta Pura use a beautiful European paper called “Rivoli” on the inside. Rivoli is a writing paper, without watermark, not laid, completely pure, custom-made exclusively for Carta Pura. The quality of Rivoli originates at first in the raw material: Rivoli consists of 25% cotton, giving the paper elegance and profundity. In addition, the strongly calendered (very smooth) surface enables fountain pens and ball point pens to glide easily on the paper.
