Ohashi Ryoki

ohashi ryoki collection

Inspired by the 1300-year history of the Japanese Masu finger-jointed box originally used as measuring cups for rice and other grains, the Hinoki Storage collection offers a flexible range of stackable storage solutions for everyday life. All pieces are handmade from fast growing, environmentally ethical Hinoki softwood.

We have selected the new Hinoki Desktop collection which focuses on organising the work area. 4 types of organisers neatly store stationery, small accessories and letters.

This collection is part of the Gifu Collection Project designed by Sebastian Conran. The project brought together a group of 10 makers and manufacturers from the Gifu prefecture of Japan with the London-based designer.

For over 60 years, Ohashi Ryoki has been the leading manufacturer of traditional hand-crafted “Masu” boxes in Ogaki, Japan. Over 80% of all Masu boxes produced are made in Ogaki city and they are entirely environmentally friendly.

The precious Japanese Cypress used for these objects contains essential oils which give off a delicious scent of evergreens reputed to have a mild relaxing effect. The Ohashi Hinoki collection offers the beautiful minimalistic Japanese looks that we love with a high degree of practicality, impressive craftsmanship and a 1300 year history.
